by Minden Press-Herald

Ora Morene Walston went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2016.

Morene was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Rubicon, Arkansas, to Thomas Arthur Moore and Clemmie Jane Garrett. She was one of six children born to the Moores and is the last one of the siblings to depart this earth. She met and married Brad Berry Walston not long after he was discharged from the Army after serving in World War II in Germany. They made their home in Minden. Morene accepted the Lord at a young age and brought all her children up in the church. She was a steadfast believer in Jesus all her life and it showed in her love for others.

Morene loved, served in, and held many positions in the Eastern Star Organization. She dedicated many years of her life to Evergreen and then to fostering children. She helped many children get a new start in life. She retired from her passion of fostering children at age 83. Morene was preceded in death by her husband, Brad, her oldest son, Berry, and oldest daughter, Dinah Garland.

She leaves behind, a daughter, Peggy Brown, who resides in Baton Rouge, and youngest son, Brad Walston of Salem, Oregon. Also, three grandsons: Tracy Lynn Todd of Illinois, Timothy Garrett Brown of Minden, and Brad Caleb Walston currently stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. Additionally, three granddaughters, Amy Thornhill of Minden, Krystal Kaye Brown of Baton Rouge, and Amanda Maureen Walston of Salem, Oregon. And a host of great- grandchildren that she delighted in.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
