Pearleana Shyne ClarkMrs. Pearleana Shyne Clark was born Jan. 3, 1928 in Claiborne Parish to Willie and Athlene Shyne. She completed her education at Webster High School in Minden, Louisiana, class of 1948, where she excelled on the basketball team.

She joined Springhill C.M.E. Church in August of 1942 under the pastorate of the Rev. J. H. Hutton. She later joined Blue Run Baptist Church in 1950 where she remained a member for over 50 years. While at Blue Run, she served on the Usher Board, the Pastor’s Aide Club and as an Announcement Clerk. She transferred her membership to Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church after she moved from her home in the Blue Run Community to the City of Minden. Pearleana continued to be a servant in the house of the Lord, serving as a Stewardess at Mt. Zion.

Pearleana married Leon Clark, Sr. Sept. 25, 1948. Six children were born to this union: Patsy, Frederick Leon (deceased), Leon Jr., James, Benjamin and Monica Sheila.

She enjoyed fishing, tending to her flowers, playing all sorts of games and going to church. She also worked diligently as secretary of the Shady Grove Cemetery Association for many years. She was dedicated and very faithful to this organization. Her life journey ended on May 13, 2015 when she made a peaceful transition to her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie and Athlene Shyne; husband: Leon Clark Sr.; son: Frederick Leon Clark; three sisters: Cora Shyne, Bernice Stanley, and Lula Thompson; five brothers: Dave, Johnnie, Bennie, William and the Rev. O’Neal Shyne Sr.; and one great-grandson Remond Elder Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children: Patsy (Billy) Bryant of Trotwood, Ohio, Leon (Celeste) Clark of Longwood, Florida, James Clark of Pinellas Park, Florida, Benjamin (Toni) Clark of Missouri City, Texas and Monica (Ferguson) Johnson, of Huber Heights, Ohio; three sisters: Elva Manning of Minden, Louisiana, Frances (Willie) Sims and Daisy Johnson of Dayton, Ohio; one sister-in-law: Adell Shine of Minden; 16 grandchildren: Quibilah (Mose) Crowder, Eric Bryant, William (Tera) Bryant, Cecily (Michael) Ganheart, Christopher Clark, David Franklin, Jamie Andrews, Chiri Scott, Lawanda Scott, Tamika (Dwight) Jackson, Marcus (Cherise) Clark, Ashley Clark, Bryan, Alexis and Tre’ Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
