Piano students provide entertaining recitals

The Students of Mrs. Carolyn B. Brasell presented their end of the year Recital at First Baptist Church on May 22, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. Parents, relatives and friends were all entertained as each student played a representative of the work he/she had accomplished during the year. 

Appearing on the program was Alayna Benson, Caroline Bolton, Callie Branch, Motley Brasell, Sarah Brown, Annabel Campbell, Wesley Campbell, McCrae Carroway, Anna Grace Lemmons, Jessica Montgomery, Kati Oglesby, Lyla Scroggs, Nella Anne Snider, and Allison Winters 

After the recital was finished, Awards and certificates were given to all that had participated in the different festivals held during the school year. 

January 28, 2023, was the date of the Keyboard Hymn Festival: Participating were Alayna Benson, Caroline Bolton, Callie Branch, Motley Brasell, Sarah Brown, Annabel Campbell, Wesley Campbell, Anna Grace Lemmons, Jessica Montgomery, Katie Oglesby, Lyla Scroggs and Nella Anne Snider, Annabel Campbell, Katie Oglesby and Lyla Scroggs had perfect scores; all students made a Superior Rating. 

March 4th was the date of the Federation Festival in Ruston at La. Tech. The students had to play two pieces, one that was on the required list and one of their choosing. Participating students were Alayna Benson, Caroline Bolton, Callie Branch, Motley Brasell, Sarah Brown, Annabel Campbell, Wesley Campbell, Jessica Montgomery Katie Oglesby, Lyla Scroggs, and Nella Ann Snider, the students who participated made a Superior Rating; Four students received Blue Ribbons for earning a Superior Plus: They were Motley Brasell, Annabel Campbell, Wesley Campbell and Katie Oglesby. 

Eight students received trophies for having fulfilled the required practice time for the whole school year. They were Alayna Benson, Caroline Bolton, Motley Brasell, Annabel Campbell, Wesley Campbell, Jessica Montgomery, Katie Oglesby and Ronnie Stewart. 

Theory trophies were presented to students who completed a level of theory: 

Prep A: Motley Brasell 

Prep B: Alayna Benson, Callie Branch, Wesley Campbell, Lyla Scroggs 

Level I: Annabel Campbell, Allison Winters 

Level II: Anna Grace Lemmons, Jessica Montgomery, and Katie Oglesby, Level III: Sarah Brown 

Annabel Campbell was awarded the OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN 2022-23.
