Police investigating vehicle burglaries near J.L. Jones Elementary

by Minden Press-Herald

The Minden Police Department is asking residents to check their vehicles after a series of burglaries reported in neighborhoods surrounding J.L. Jones Elementary School on the evening of November 8 and into the early morning of November 9.

According to the department, officers recovered a set of keys believed to have been taken from one of the vehicles. Investigators have not yet identified the owner. Officials are urging residents in the area to confirm that nothing is missing from their vehicles, with particular attention to keys.

Police reminded residents to remove valuables and lock vehicle doors each night to help reduce thefts. “We are increasing patrols in neighborhoods and businesses while entering into the holiday season,” Police Chief Jared McIver said. “We want to always establish a good community relationship as well as being a crime deterrent.”

Anyone who discovers missing property or has information related to the investigation is asked to contact Minden police at 318-371-4226. The department is also requesting photos or camera footage from the area, which can be submitted through a public upload link provided by the agency.
