The Minden Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a black male responsible for robbing a cash clerk at Love’s Casino in Minden.

Police Chief Steve Cropper says the man came into the casino and walked up to her asking her for change.

“He walked up to her and asked her for change,” he said. “She unzipped her fanny pack to make change and about that time, he just reached down and grabbed the pack and took the money. They have him on video, but you can’t make a face out on him.”

Det. Keith King, lead investigator on the case, describes the perpetrator as a black male in his 20s or early 30s, about five feet, five inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has what is described as a “little Afro,” and facial hair. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark, short-sleeved t-shirt with writing on the back, possibly denim long shorts, dark ankle socks and white Nike type sandals with the Velcro strap, not flip flops.
He was driving what appeared to be a white sedan vehicle.

“He parks his car, comes inside, plays one of the machines for about 10 minutes,” King said. “He goes to the restroom, comes back out and approaches the clerk saying he needs change. She reaches into her ‘wallet’ is what she called it, and gets ready to hand him his money and he snatches it from her and money goes flying everywhere.”

In the video, he, along with the clerk, can be seen picking up paper currency and he takes off through the front door, pushing the clerk out of the way.
“He was able to leave with a nice chunk,” King said, adding he appeared to know his way around the casino, indicating that he has been there before.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 24.

Cropper and King are asking anyone who has information on the whereabouts or identification of this man to call the Minden Police Department at 377-1212 or 371-4226. He was last seen leaving the parking lot headed towards Interstate 20.
