A Minden woman was arrested after police say she punched her boyfriend in the mouth.
Kamica Heard, 25, of the 900 block of Homer Road, was arrested by Minden Police for domestic abuse battery.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says the victim called police around 3 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, and Sgt. Chris McClaran was dispatched to the Homer Road address in reference to a domestic disturbance.
“When he got there, he contacted the victim who told him that Ms. Heard had attacked him,” the chief said. “The victim was outside the trailer when Sgt. McClaran arrived. He waved him down, and at that point in time when he was interviewing him, Ms. Heard exited the residence and began yelling at the victim.”
He says Officer First Class Shawn Jenkins, Officer First Class Clint Smith and Officer First Class Jesse Cutrer arrived as backup at that time. Cropper explained Heard and the victim’s brother were inside the residence and Heard asked to use the victim’s cell phone.
“He told her to wait a minute when Ms. Heard walked over to him and punched him in his lip with a closed fist and began wrestling him to the floor,” he said. “The victim exited the residence and called the Minden Police Department.”
He says the victim’s brother verified the victim’s account of what took place.
“They interviewed the suspect, Ms. Heard, and she alleged the victim punched her first,” he said. “He observed a very minor laceration on the inside right portion of the victim’s bottom lip. They photographed that injury.”
However, officers noted no signs of injury to Heard. She was placed under arrest for domestic abuse battery and transported to the Minden Police Station.
