Power outages in Bossier Parish drive people to Minden

by Amber McDown

If you’ve noticed unusually large crowds throughout Minden, especially at restaurants and motels, this is likely the result of the severe thunderstorms that swept through north Louisiana in the early hours of June 16. Most of Bossier Parish is without power, which means people are looking for places to eat and air conditioned places to rest, especially as heat indexes have risen into the triple digits. A press release from the Bossier Parish sheriff’s office stated, “there is still no official timeline for when power will be restored parish-wide but it will be as soon as possible.” Once power is restored to the surrounding areas, Minden should return to normal.
