Press-Herald to have new size, more color Monday

Monday’s Minden Press-Herald will look a little different than today’s edition. According to publisher David Specht, the change is one for the better.

“During the past 24 months, we have invested a significant amount into our print production to give the Press-Herald better and more color,” Specht said. “Monday’s change will take full advantage of that.”

Specht said the Press-Herald page size will change, going from 21 inches tall to 17 inches tall. The width of the page will remain relatively the same. “This change will allow us to double our color capacity and put color on every page of the newspaper,” Specht said. “Now, we can have color sports, classifieds, and more.”

Specht added the new page size will also benefit digital readers. The format is more conducive to tablet reading.

“In November, we relaunched the daily e-edition for digital readers,” Specht said. “We believe this moves us forward as our industry evolves, without losing our focus on the print readers.”

The size change with the Monday, Dec. 31 edition of the Press-Herald is also by design. “As we close the chapter on 2018, start a new week and then a new year, it made sense to make the change on that day.”
