A Minden man was arrested after reportedly busting his girlfriend’s lip with a closed fist.
Wavreunta Amion Davis, 34, of the 900 block of East Street, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 6 and charged with second degree battery by domestic violence. Bond was set at $20,000.
Chief of Police Steve Cropper says his arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Cherry Street on July 31.
“The victim didn’t actually come to the Minden PD until the following day,” he said. “She had been to the emergency room.”
He says she was at her residence with her boyfriend, identified as Davis, at about 3:40 a.m. and apparently Davis had had quite a bit to drink. An argument broke out between the two regarding a cell phone purchase, Cropper said.
“She didn’t want to argue with him, so she goes inside the residence and lays down on the couch,” he said.
“He follows her in, continues to argue with her, and she closes her eyes and tells him she’ll talk to him when he’s sober. Apparently that aggravated him to the point where he takes a closed fist and hits her in the mouth, busts her lip, grabs her around the neck and begins to choke her until he realizes that she’s bleeding from the mouth.”
The chief says Davis then left the residence and the victim went to the emergency room where she was treated for her injuries.
“She received 15 stitches to close her lip,” Cropper said. “She came in the next day, filed a report and filed charges against him.”
Minden Det. Keith King Jr. obtained and executed the arrest warrant. Following Davis’ arrest and booking, he was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
