Graveside services for Ray Thomas “Sonny” McGee will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bryceland under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Preston Young assisted by the Rev. Danny Slack. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Sonny was born March 11, 1942 in Cotton Valley and entered into rest Sept. 15, 2015 in Shreveport. He served his country in the United States Army with tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Newton and Opal Louise McGee, brothers Donald and Ronald McGee, and sisters Shirley McGee, Mary Adkins, and Virginia Warren.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nell McGee of Sibley, son Kevin Ray McGee and wife Sonia of Castor, daughter Lisa McGee Carlson and husband David of Minden, grandchildren Phillip Striplin and wife Caitlyn of Tucson, Arizona, Katy McGee of Keatchie, Leah Striplin Williams & husband Caleb of Minden, Robert Johnson of Castor, Kory McGee of Castor, Kortney McGee of Castor, great-grandchild Teagan Striplin of Tucson, Arizona, brothers and sister; Barry McGee and wife Sandy of Jonesboro, Danny McGee and wife Sheryl of Bossier City, Melodie McGee of Stonewall, Dickie McGee and wife Debra of Dubberly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
