Results from week one of Minden Rec. football

Little league football season got kicked off last week at the Minden Recreation Center with a busy week of games on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Here’s a recap of last week’s gridiron action.

Monday
2nd-4th Grade

Lil’ Tiders 18
Saints 12

The Lil’ Tiders got their season started with a win, as Jacobe Rankin led the team with 24 yards and a touchdown. Brayden Britton finished with eight yards and a touchdown, Al Edwards Jr. had 10 yards and a score and Isaiah Browning led the team in yards with 30. Brody Bower had an impressive game as well, rushing for 27 yards.

Maurice Rabb was the star of the game for the Saints, finishing with 74 yards and two touchdowns. Jakobe Jackson had a good game with 49 yards, Jekoye Knowles had 33 yards and Iverson Colbert added 19 tough yards.

Cooper Tire 30
Punishers 0

Landyn Huddleston led Cooper Tire to the win with 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Right behind him was Brennan Benton with 81 yards and a pair of scores. Victor Gipson Jr. finished with 62 yards and a touchdown, Keithri Kimble added 27 yards and Isaviyon Emerson added five yards and a fumble recovery.

Damarion McClendon ran for 56 yards to lead the Punishers, followed by Darnell Morris with four yards. Hunter Perrin, Johnathan Bryant and Jacksyn Moore led the Punishers on defense.

Tuesday
5th-6th Grade

Ducks 26
Mohawks 20

Darryl Thomas led the Ducks with 197 yards and three touchdowns, followed by Khyrese Taylor with 80 yards and one touchdown.

Keegan Bryan, Christian Lane Dillon, and James Colbert starred on defense for the Ducks.

Cade Boley led the Mohawks with 137 yards and one touchdown. Kameron Talley was second on the team in yards with 77 to go with one touchdown. Andrew Cooper and Ethan Vise added touchdowns for the Mohawks, while Nicholas Shifflet and Ja’colby Snell led the defense.

Punishers 32
Lil’ Tiders 19

D’Angelo Garner finished with 125 yards and three scores, followed by Dexter Smith with 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Punishers. Kamryn Lewis ran for 45 yards and a two-point conversion to round out the offense.

Javis Moore led the Tiders with 126 yards and two scores, followed by Ty’Darrium Green with six yards and a touchdown. Daylen Robinson finished with 29 yards and Elliot Sheppard had 24 yards for the Lil’ Tiders.

Thursday

Lil’ Tiders 6
Titans 0

Javis Moore le the Tiders to victory with 104 yards and a touchdown. Jake Wilkins added 25 yards in support and Chris Redding had 11 yards.

Kataurio Grigsby had five yards for the Titans, while Jamaria Clark and Jacob Whitehead each finished with seven yards.
