Funeral services for Rosa Lee Bailey will be at 11 a.m. at New Light Baptist Church Saturday Aug. 26, 2017. Interment will be at Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Benevolent Funeral Home.

Rosa Lee Bailey was the 10th of 11 children born to Jonas and Pinkie White Dec. 11, 1919 in rural Minden. She was the last remaining child. Rosa was affectionately called several names by those who knew and loved her. Among them were Sal, Mother, Aunt Sal, and Cuzn’ Sal.

She was united in marriage to L.T. Bailey Oct. 29, 1935. To this union four children were born. Each of her children carries one of her character traits. Roosevelt had her fun-loving personality, L. T. (Bunny) has her outgoing personality and ability to never meet a stranger, Marie has her great cooking skills, and Marilyn has her business sense.

Shortly after marriage she united with New Light Missionary Baptist Church and served as an active member of the Nurses Aid Auxiliary for many years. She remained a faithful member until her death.

Rosa served as a domestic employee for many of her working years and took part in rearing many of her employer’s children who loved her dearly.

During her life, Rosa had a humorous and unique personality and was known for her frankness.

Rosa departed this life to receive her heavenly reward on Monday Aug. 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by husband, L. T. Bailey Sr., son Roosevelt Bailey, and granddaughter Crystal Bailey.

She leaves to cherish her memory son, L. T. Bailey Jr. (wife Donna), daughters, Marie Hampton (husband Willie) and Marilyn Black (husband Dennis); 12 grandchildren (Vivian Armstrong, Sheila Bailey, Stephanie Bailey Gray, Rosalind Hampton, Meshell Hampton, Andrica Hampton, Donetta Brown, Jerry Hall, Swanetta Williams, Elisia Reel, Chenoa Bailey, and Simeon Black Sr.;) 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
