Funeral services for Samuel E. Waller Sr. will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at First Baptist Church West Chapel in Minden, with the Rev. Jimmy Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Samuel was born August 4, 1925, in Sarepta and entered into rest Jan. 25, 2015, in Minden.
Samuel was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving as a rifleman in the Battle of the Bulge. He made an untold number of friends as a salesman and general manager of Branch Bros. Motor Company in Springhill. Samuel married Dee, his partner for 71 years, when they were both 16. The last couple of years of his life were spent at Town and Country Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the employees there who took such loving care of him as well as Dr. Michael Chanler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nova Dee Canterbury Waller; one sister; and two brothers.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Waller and wife, Beverly of Minden and Sammy Waller and wife, Cindy of Minden; daughter, Judy Garrett and husband, Mack of Sarepta; 16 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.
Memorials may be made to the benevolent fund of Taylor Baptist Church, First Baptist Minden, New Sarepta Baptist Church or Living Word Widows in Need.
