Seeds Women’s Center begins year with prayer gathering, donation drive

by Amber McDown

Seeds Women’s Center marked the start of 2026 on the morning of January 5 with staff members, volunteers, and supporters gathering for prayer and coffee as the nonprofit outlined goals for the year ahead.

The local organization, led by Executive Director Amber Bradford, said its focus for 2026 is to fully implement the mission reflected in its name: Safe, Educate, Empower, Decisions and Support. Seeds Women’s Center provides a range of free services to women and families in the community, including pregnancy tests, a learn-to-earn program for new mothers and access to baby supplies through the Seeds Baby Boutique.

As part of its January outreach efforts, the center has launched a “Pull Up” donation drive to collect Pull-Ups for families in need. Community members are invited to call the center, and staff or volunteers will retrieve donated items directly from vehicles, allowing donors to remain in their cars.

Seeds Women’s Center also continues to seek volunteers to assist with daily operations. The nonprofit operates solely through donations from community supporters, churches and fundraisers.

Those interested in supporting the organization financially may donate online at www.seedswomenscenter.com/donate or mail contributions to 308 Pine Street, Minden, LA 71055.

The organization’s next major fundraiser, Seeds Totally 80’s Bingo, is scheduled for Friday, March 6, at the Minden Civic Center. Organizers encourage attendees to save the date and plan to dress in 1980s-themed attire.
