Seeds Women’s Center to hold annual fundraising banquet, announces new building purchase

by Amber McDown

Seeds Women’s Center will host its annual fundraising banquet on Tuesday, October 8 at the Minden Civic Center. The event is set to begin at 6 PM. and will include a meal and two guest speakers. While tickets for the event are free and available through Eventbrite, the center is also offering table sponsorships to support its mission.

The fundraiser comes at a pivotal time for Seeds Women’s Center, which has experienced significant growth over the past year. The center, which provides pregnancy and family support services, is in the process of purchasing a new building located at 308 Pine Street, known as the Ward Building. According to Amber Bradford, director of the center, the new space will allow the organization to better serve the community.

“This building is twice the size of our little blue house,” Bradford said. “With our center growing, we are facing the challenges of renovating the building to meet our needs, covering higher utility costs, and stocking more supplies.”

Seeds Women’s Center plans to close on the building in November. Funds raised from the banquet will go toward the building’s renovation. Bradford emphasized that the center is more than just a pregnancy center. “Our goal is to help women and families choose to parent their child and then to help them raise that child. It takes a village to raise a child, and we are the village at Seeds.”

The center is encouraging community members to get involved by sponsoring tables at the banquet or pledging donations. For more information or to become a sponsor, contact Seeds Women’s Center at 318-639-0907 or email Bradford at [email protected].

With the anticipated move, Seeds Women’s Center hopes to continue providing hope, love, and understanding to families throughout Minden and beyond.
