Speaker Mike Johnson’s district office hosted a Senior Adult Fair in Minden on August 20, aimed at connecting Louisiana seniors with essential community partners and resources. The event focused on providing seniors with valuable information on health, fraud prevention, nutrition, and wellness, among other services.
Speaker Johnson’s staff organized the event, bringing together representatives from local and state government, the Social Security Administration, and various senior service organizations. Notable speakers included Brian Williams, Webster Parish Emergency Director; Laura Seabaugh from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office; and Minden Police Chief Jared McIver.
Participants in the fair included the Webster Council on Aging, Social Security Administration, LifeShare Blood Center, Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Alzheimer’s Association, Minden Medical Center, Webster Parish Fire Department & 911 Emergency Services, Springhill Medical Center, Brewer Physical Therapy, Webster Tourism, Webster Parish Libraries, Professional Home Health, State Representative Wayne McMahen, State Senator Adam Bass, and State Senator Alan Seabaugh.
The fair provided a platform for seniors to engage with these organizations, accessing a variety of services and opportunities available to them in the community. The event underscored the importance of ensuring that Louisiana’s seniors are well-informed and supported in maintaining their health and well-being.
