Shaun Houston, devoted husband, loving father, and servant of Jesus Christ, will bring words of encouragement to young people at the MLK Youth Rally following the parade Monday.
Houston grew up in Shreveport and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. He attended Northwestern State University and graduated with honors with a degree in Business Administration. Houston later attended Louisiana Tech University where he received two Master’s degrees in counseling and education (K-12).
Houston began his career in education at Westwood Elementary School in Shreveport where he served as a fourth grade English teacher. In 2009, he took a position as a fifth grade English teacher at North Webster Upper Elementary in Webster Parish. He later served as an administrative assistant and spent time at E.S. Richardson Elementary, J.E. Harper Elementary and Webster Junior High School. He currently serves as assistant principal at Minden High School.
In his spare time, Houston enjoys reading, running and spending time with his family. In addition to his duties as assistant principal, Houston coaches four youth football programs in north Webster, volunteers for numerous projects at church and works as the unlicensed neighborhood barber for
citizens in Cotton Valley for free.
Shaun Houston is married to Naomi Houston and is the proud father of two sons.
