Shooting leaves student dead

Being investigated as a homicide, details limited on triggerman

SPRINGHILL — A 17-year-old North Webster High School student was shot dead Monday night in Springhill.

The identity of the teen hasn’t been released by law enforcement, but according to social media, the teen was a member of the North Webster Knight’s football team.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in a park behind Brown Upper Middle School, Webster Parish sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bobby Igo said.

It’s being investigated as a homicide.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said no suspect is in custody and declined to comment any further on the investigation.
