Jenifer Thompson, a 27-year-old woman from Shreveport, was arrested on Industrial Drive in Minden after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of multiple infractions, including active warrants for her arrest.
According to police reports, on March 29, two officers were patrolling the area of East Street when they observed a white Nissan Altima fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of East Street and Industrial Drive. The vehicle also displayed a visibly aged Louisiana temporary tag. The officers initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Ford dealership.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers observed a young child improperly restrained in the back seat behind the driver. While waiting for the driver, identified as Jenifer Thompson, to retrieve her driver’s license, the officers noted the expired temporary tag, which belonged to a 2000 Grand Marquis.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was registered to Tremaine Jenkins and was uninsured. The registered plate showed an expiration date of May 23, 2022. When the officers checked the driver’s information, they were initially unable to find any results. Thompson initially provided her name as Jennifer Thomas but later confirmed her last name as Thompson.
Dispatch confirmed that Thompson’s driver’s license had expired, and she had four active warrants for her arrest. Additionally, the insurance status of the vehicle was unconfirmed through the state computer. Thompson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking. She is facing charges of resisting an officer by lying, failure to stop at a stop sign, no driver’s license on person, improper display of a plate, and serving the four bench warrants.
Thompson was allowed to make contact with a concerned adult to take custody of the child. The vehicle was towed.
