A Sibley woman was arrested Friday after allegedly firing gunshots inside her home during an argument with her husband, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a disturbance with shots fired around 2:44 PM October 3 in the 400 block of East Justin Drive. Upon arrival, the husband told deputies that he and his wife, Tina Montgomery, 54, had argued earlier that morning. He said that while sitting in his recliner later, he heard a gunshot and warned her, “You better not be shooting at me,” at which point she fired a second round.
Deputies said they found a Glock .44 handgun chambered in .22 long rifle inside the bedroom, along with a partially filled magazine and two unfired cartridges on the floor. A spent casing was recovered behind the dresser, and investigators observed two bullet holes in the floor near where the man had been sitting, as well as marks in the ceiling from ricochets.
Montgomery initially told deputies she fired the gun outside but later admitted to shooting at the floor, according to the report. She was arrested and booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
