Slithering at the library

by Amber McDown

The Minden branch of Webster Parish Libraries was overrun with snakes on Wednesday. Steve’s Snaketuary brought bags and boxes of snakes to educate and delight children and adults. During his presentation, Steve discussed how snakes are beneficial to the environment, the differences between the meanings of the words venomous and poisonous, snake behavior, safe snake handling, and much more. After the lecture portion of the presentation, children were invited to hold or touch some of his pet snakes. Beyond educating the public about snakes, Steve’s Snaketuary also offers safe removal and rehoming of snakes and other reptiles. The mission behind Steve’s Snaketuary is to eliminate fear through education and to bring peace through rescue.
