by Minden Press-Herald

The Southern University Museum of Art in Shreveport (SUMAS) is thrilled to announce the opening of PRISMATIC, a solo exhibition by acclaimed artist Hillary Frazier. The exhibition will run from January 16 through March 13, 2025, with an opening reception on January 16 from 5-7 PM. This event is free and open to the public.

PRISMATIC showcases Frazier’s compelling works, which seamlessly blend traditional illustration, hand-drawn typography, and narrative imagery. Her pieces often feature empowered women, capturing the nuanced balance between strength and vulnerability, offering a multifaceted exploration of femininity.

Hillary Frazier is a Louisiana-based artist known for her distinctive style influenced by renowned artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Fiona Staples, Skottie Young, and Jamie Hewlett. Her process often begins with organic sketches that evolve into reflections of her stream of consciousness. Her work reflects a passion for storytelling through intricate details and dynamic composition. Frazier earned a double Bachelor’s in Studio Arts and Communications (with an emphasis in film) from Centenary College of Louisiana in 2013 and a Master of Arts in Art from Northwestern State University in 2019.
