State Representative Alonzo Knox Elected Vice Chair of the Louisiana House Democratic Caucus

BATON ROUGE, LA — State Representative Alonzo Knox has been elected Vice Chair of the Louisiana House Democratic Caucus, earning the support of his colleagues without opposition.

Rep. Knox expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for policies that improve the lives of working families across Louisiana.

“I’m beyond honored that my colleagues have placed their trust in me to serve as Vice Chair,” said Knox. “Together, we will continue fighting for all Louisianians by advancing an affordability agenda that creates opportunity, strengthens our economy, and improves the overall quality of life in our state.”

Knox emphasized that the caucus will prioritize policies that address the rising cost of living, support safer communities, and build an opportunity economy that allows families and businesses to thrive.

“Our mission is simple but urgent,” Knox said. “We must make Louisiana a place where our young people want to stay, where our elders are respected and able to live with dignity, and where communities are safe, stable, and full of opportunity. If we get that right, others will want to move here and invest in our future.”

Knox also highlighted the importance of working across differences to move Louisiana forward.

“We will always work to find common ground when possible,” Knox said. “But make no mistake — I’m battle-proven, tested, and not afraid of the fight when it comes to standing up for the people of Louisiana; many of whom are struggle right now and barely surviving from paycheck to paycheck.”

As Vice Chair, Knox will help lead the caucus in developing policy priorities, strengthening collaboration among members, and advocating for legislation that promotes affordability, economic opportunity, public safety, and fairness for families across the state.
