The first Shop the Block of 2026 drew large crowds to historic downtown Minden on February 28, as sunny skies and above-average temperatures created an ideal setting for a day of shopping and entertainment.
Visitors spent the day strolling brick-lined streets, browsing local boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores offering apparel, home décor, handcrafted gifts, and artwork. Several merchants reported staying busy for most of the day as shoppers took advantage of seasonal sales and in-store promotions.
Live DJ music — courtesy of DJ Milford Parker — could be heard throughout much of downtown, adding to the energy of the event and providing a festive backdrop for those moving between stores and restaurants.
Shop the Block is designed to highlight Minden’s small-town charm while encouraging residents and visitors to support local businesses. In addition to shopping, guests enjoyed food options and time outdoors with family and friends.
With warm weather and steady foot traffic, the first installment of the 2026 series marked a strong start for downtown merchants and event organizers alike.
