A message from Superintendent Rowland:
As the new school year is just a few short weeks away, we would like to highlight a few things associated with our school system that are worthy of recognition.

Two Webster Parish students were recently selected to state level positions at Louisiana Boys State. Hudson Smith of North Webster High School was elected as Governor, the highest state level position there is. Topher Wilson of Minden High School was elected as Commissioner of Insurance. There were 235 students from across the state in attendance, and out of seven state level positions Webster Parish is proud to have two of our students attain this achievement. What an accomplishment! In addition, Rylee Hudson, an incoming freshman at Minden High School, won first place in Middle School Public Speaking at the National Educators Rising Conference in Orlando. Rylee competed against students from all across the United States. We are so proud of Rylee as she earned this tremendous achievement!
WPSB has partnered with Reach University to create a pathway for our paraprofessionals to earn a bachelor’s degree and become certified teachers while continuing to serve in their current school roles. Through this partnership, six of our paraprofessionals have transitioned into teaching positions this year. This life-changing opportunity not only transforms the careers of our employees but also enriches the lives of our students.
Webster Parish is the lead agency for the Webster Ready Start Network (WRSN). This network has 10 Early Learning Centers (ELCs), 3 Head Start Programs, and preschool classes at 5 of our Webster Parish schools. We recently raised $10,500 locally that was matched by the Louisiana Department of Education dollar for dollar! This $21,000 will be able to fund 3 children (0-3 years old) for the 25-26 school year. Nine of our ten Early Learning Centers (ELCs) applied for these seats and the selections were based upon a rubric. Congratulations to Little Scholar’s Academy & Preschool (Minden), St. Rest Early Learning Center (Minden), and Jack-N-Jill (Springhill) for being selected!
The 17th Annual Pack the Bus event this Friday and Saturday at the Walmart parking lots in Minden and Springhill.
We’re collecting school supplies for our Back-to-School Bash happening:

Let’s work together to support our students as they gear up for a great year!
Our schools prioritize safety with single points of entry, SROs on every campus, upgraded metal detector systems at high schools, and daily security walkthroughs to ensure a secure learning environment. School counselors, behavior interventionist, nurses and other certificated professionals to address needs of our students and staff.
Finally, we are excited with construction projects that are currently ongoing at Minden High School, North Webster High School. Brown Upper Elementary, and Browning Lower Elementary. In addition, we are pleased with recently completed projects at North Webster Jr. High School, Doyline High School, Central Elementary, Lakeside Jr./Sr. High School. As always, on behalf of the Webster Parish School Board, we remain grateful for the unyielding support of our schools by our citizens!
