Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says Billie Harris, 18, of the 2,000 block of Peachtree Road in Dubberly, was arrested on the warrant stemming from an incident that occurred in May.
“On May 19, officers were dispatched to a local business in reference to an employee that had stolen money from a cash register,” he said. “The manager filed a complaint and told officers he had Harris on video footage taking money from the drawer and placing it in her pocket on May 17.”
Cropper says the register drawer was short about $99, and the manager called her to his office, told her what he’d seen on the video, and at that time, Harris admitted to taking the money.
“Harris had apparently rung up a Yeti ice chest, but returned it and removed the cash from the cash drawer,” he said. “At that point, Harris was informed that she was being terminated.”
He says she returned the $99 to the store manager but is believed to have stolen more than $1,000 from the business.
The chief says the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted them Sunday, informing them Harris was at the courthouse. An officer was then sent to the courthouse and she was placed under arrest on the warrant.
She was transported to police headquarters, booked and then transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
