A burglary that netted thieves a large number of tools and ammunition from a rural shop building has apparently been solved with the arrest of a trio of Webster Parish men.
Sheriff Gary Sexton said 26-year-old Christopher Brandon Boyd, 23-year-old Cody Alan Weeks and 20-year-old Andrew Karl Matthies were taken into custody Dec. 23 and charged with the Dec. 15 burglary on Cox Lake Road.
“On the 23rd, detectives arrested Christopher Boyd and during the interview, he admitted that he, Cody Weeks and Andrew Matthies had committed the burglary,” Sexton said. “Boyd also admitted that stolen items from the burglary were at his Dixie Inn residence.”
Sexton said detectives found Weeks at Boyd’s Stanley Street residence, where he admitted to his part in the burglary.
“Weeks also admitted that he had items at his Shreveport Road residence which had been stolen during the burglary,” Sexton said. “We received consent to search the residence and recovered a large number of stolen items.”
While searching for items taken in the burglary, detectives reportedly found paraphernalia for use with illegal drugs, Sexton said.
Matthies is currently housed at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center after he was arrested on Dec. 18 for other charges. He faces additional charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with the Cox Lake Road break-in.
Weeks has been booked for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia, Sexton said. Boyd is charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for child support, the sheriff said.
