Deldrie Jackson, 44, of the 400 block of Joel Street, was

arrested for possession of Schedule II CDS (cocaine), second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Captain Julie Harmon says Officer First Class Chris Hammontree conducted a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. on East Street at Bailey Street, when Jackson failed to use a turn signal.

“He turned left onto Bailey Street and failed to signal,” she said. “When he contacted the people in the car, they had open containers and he found drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs.”

During a search of the vehicle, she says Hammontree found approximately one gram of suspected crack cocaine, a pipe commonly used for smoking cocaine and a brillo pad.

All four men denied ownership of the suspected cocaine and the drug paraphernalia, she said. All four were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking. They were then transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
