Award-winning Florida bluesman Selwyn Birchwood is set to perform at the Dixie Center for the Arts in Ruston on Saturday, October 5. Birchwood, known for his unique blend of blues, rock, funk, and Southern soul, will bring his electrifying “Electric Swamp Funkin’ Blues” to the stage, offering fans a night of powerful music and soulful performances.
Birchwood’s 2023 album, Exorcist, his fourth release with Alligator Records, has been praised for its innovative approach to the blues genre. The album, produced by GRAMMY Award-winner Tom Hambridge, features 13 original tracks that showcase Birchwood’s skills as a guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist. The tracks range from the introspective “Underdog” to the haunting title track “Exorcist.”
The performance will begin at 7:00 PM at the Dixie Center, located at 212 N. Vienna St. Tickets are priced at $35 and are available through the venue’s website.
Selwyn Birchwood first gained national attention after winning the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. His debut album with Alligator Records, Don’t Call No Ambulance, earned him critical acclaim and awards, establishing him as a leading figure in contemporary blues.
