Lakeside Warriors begin district with win

by Minden Press-Herald

VIVIAN – The Lakeside Warriors earned their third, and most important, victory of the season Tuesday night on the road.

The Warriors jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning and never trailed on their way to a district-opening win over the North Caddo Indians.

Lakeside got the hits when they needed them Tuesday, totaling 10 hits for the game. The Warriors were leading 6-0 in the fifth when North Caddo scored their first runs of the night with a two-spot. Lakeside answered with two runs of their own in the sixth to kill the North Caddo momentum.

Brayden Jones was the winning pitcher for Lakeside. Jones tossed four and one-third, striking out one batter, but scattering six hits and keeping the Indians off the scoreboard. Jake Gray took care of the final two and two-thirds of the game, allowing two hits and no earned runs.

At the plate, Lakeside was led by Josh Prince’s 2-4 day with a single, double and two RBIs. Dalton Crumpler went 3-3 with three singles. Cameron Gray went 2-4 with a single and triple and Tanner Page added a triple as well.

Gavin Jones had a two-RBI single and Jake Gray added a single for the Warriors.

The win improves Lakeside’s overall record to 3-8 and 1-0 in district play.

The Warriors will take on the Indians again Thursday at home, with that game slated for 6 p.m.
