Webster Parish 4-H shooting sports excels at regional competition

Webster Parish 4-H shooting sports participants delivered strong performances at the regional competition, which was held February 28 – March 8, earning multiple top placements and advancing to the state level in various disciplines.

Air Rifle Competition:
Lanee Demmon secured 7th place overall in the Junior Division, earning a spot at the state tournament. In the Senior Division, Camryn Nail placed 9th overall and 3rd in Silhouettes, Madison McGraw finished 10th overall and 4th in Silhouettes, while Emmersyn Demmon took 11th place overall and 5th in Standing.

Archery Competition:
In the FITA Division, Annabel Campbell, Nia Lee, Preston Coleman, Brianne Bardette, Mallory Coleman, MJ Migues, Allie Chandler, Baylli Chandler, Isaac Burton, and Madelyn Smith all qualified for the state competition.

In the 3-D Archery event, Junior Division competitors Nia Lee and Mary Jane Migues finished in the top ten, while Senior Division archers Preston Coleman, Brianne Bardette, Mallory Coleman, Preston Winston, Madelyn Smith, Landen Knotts, Abigail Butcher, and Isaac Burton also secured state qualifications.

The Limited Compound Team of Abigail Butcher, Isaac Burton, Aubrey Gorman, and Ella Durden earned 3rd place, while Luke Butcher finished 3rd overall in the National Compound Senior Division.

BB Gun Competition:
Webster Parish teams placed 1st and 4th overall, with individual awards going to Landyn Goynes (3rd overall), Emmersyn Demmon (4th overall), Hunter Cottrell (10th overall), and Preston Coleman (12th overall). Competitors also placed in test, prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing shooting categories.

.22 Rifle Competition:
Camryn Nail, Cailey Nail, Mahailey Nail, Lanee Demmon, and Emmersyn Demmon each qualified for the state tournament in various divisions.

Shotgun Competition:
In Modified Trap, Grayson Avery and Gunner Pitman advanced to the state level. In the Advanced Shotgun Senior Division, Kaden McCuen placed in multiple categories, securing an 8th overall finish and a state qualification alongside Franklin Bridwell.

The Webster Parish 4-H shooting sports team’s success at the regional competition highlights their dedication, skill, and hard work. With numerous state qualifiers across multiple disciplines, the team is set to make a strong showing at the upcoming state tournament. Coaches and participants are eager to build on this momentum and continue representing Webster Parish with excellence.
