Thousands attend annual Halloween event
Webster Parish Libraries hosted their annual Trunk-or-Treat event on October 22 in Springhill and October 28 in Minden, drawing an impressive crowd of 3,400 attendees across all locations, including Doyline. This year’s theme, “A Hogwarts Trunk-or-Treat: Chamber of Secrets Edition,” offered a fully immersive Harry Potter-inspired experience, captivating local families with an elaborate tour based on the popular series.

The event at the Minden library marked the inaugural use of a special trolley shuttle, an homage to Platform 9 ¾, which transported participants from downtown parking to the library and back. This new addition proved popular among attendees, enhancing the magical theme while addressing parking concerns.

Library Director Savannah Jones noted the event’s record turnout, saying, “The library is seen as a place for all. Each year this event has grown. To me, this indicates that parish residents look forward to coming together as a community to celebrate the season. Our libraries are the perfect place for this because we serve all Webster Parish residents, providing them a sense of ownership and, in turn, offering them a welcoming environment.”

Event planners anticipate adjustments for next year, aiming to accommodate even larger crowds and improve traffic flow with revised line formations and continued shuttle services.
