The Webster Parish School Board held its regular monthly meeting on July 7 at the central office in Minden, with all agenda items passing unanimously. Board member Linda Kinsey of District 7 was absent.
Board members adopted the 2025 millage rates, which remain unchanged from the previous year, and approved the fiscal year 2025-2026 salary schedules, which include minimal changes.
Dr. Shakera Williams with the Webster Parish 4-H Extension Office introduced Brittany Hudson as the new nutrition educator for the SNAPed program. SNAPed provides nutrition education as part of the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The board also considered updates to multiple existing policies, including:

Perry Watson presented a change order for projects at North Webster High School and McMahen Park. The board approved the changes, which include contractor credits totaling $60,538. Adjustments include substituting galvanized fencing for vinyl-coated fencing, eliminating one commercial washer/dryer set for the field house, narrowing canopy dimensions, and relocating handicapped parking to an existing ground-level area, removing the need for a large concrete ramp.
Board members also approved advertising for bids for the final phase of the bond-funded upgrades to Browning Lower Elementary and Brown Upper Elementary. Bids will be advertised beginning July 30 and are due August 28.
Several expenditures were approved for facility repairs and upgrades across parish campuses using designated maintenance funds.
The personnel report showed eight open teaching positions, three paraprofessional roles, and one counselor vacancy. Additional school bus drivers are also needed parishwide.
The School Community Liaison Report included details about the 17th Annual Pack the Bus school supply drive, scheduled for Friday, July 25 from 4–7 PM and Saturday, July 26 from 8 AM until noon at Walmart locations in Minden and Springhill. For more information, contact Ursula Hullaby at 377-7052.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Monday, August 4, at the Webster Parish School Board office, 1442 Sheppard Street in Minden. The meeting is open to the public.
