Webster Parish seeks storm damage reports from residents, businesses

by Amber McDown

Webster Parish officials are asking residents and business owners to report property damage and economic losses related to the recent winter storm as part of an effort to assess the overall impact across the parish.

The Webster Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging homeowners who sustained damage to complete a brief online questionnaire at DAMAGE.LA.GOV or by scanning a QR code being shared by the parish. Officials emphasized the survey is not an application for financial assistance and does not guarantee that aid will be made available. Instead, the information will be used to estimate the total amount of storm-related damage locally.

Parish officials said they are currently aware of only a small number of damaged homes but believe additional residents may have been affected and have not yet reported their losses.

In addition to residential damage reporting, the parish has applied for assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration for businesses that may have experienced storm-related losses. Information has been shared with the local chamber of commerce to help business owners document interruptions and damages tied to the severe weather event.

Business owners can report storm-related interruptions by visiting a state reporting form online or by using a QR code being distributed alongside the residential damage survey.

Officials said additional information about potential SBA assistance will be posted soon on the Webster Parish Police Jury Facebook page.

Residents and business owners with questions are encouraged to contact the Webster Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
