Webster Parish Summer Connections Program 2024 to support students below grade level

by Amber McDown

Webster Parish schools are gearing up for the Summer Connections Program 2024, scheduled for June 3-6 and June 10-13, from 8 AM to 3 PM daily. Themed “Let’s Finish Strong,” the program aims to provide targeted support for 3rd and 4th graders who scored below grade level on the end-of-year DIBELS test.

DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a set of procedures and measures used for assessing the acquisition of literacy skills. Students who fall below the grade level benchmark will be required to attend the program. Although 3rd and 4th grade students are the focus of this state-mandated program, it is open to any kindergarten-8th grade student.

The Summer Connections Program is designed to offer academic assistance and support to students during the summer break, helping them catch up and bridge learning gaps before the start of the next school year.
