A tornado watch has been issued for northwest Louisiana as a storm system carrying heavy rainfall heads toward the area.

The watch is in effect for all parishes in north Louisiana until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says a line of strong thunderstorms over central Texas will spread eastward throughout the morning and afternoon hours. Forecasters say isolated tornadoes are possible along with damaging wind gusts.

Forecasters say severe storms are most likely Tuesday over parts of Louisiana.
