Webster Ready Start hosted an Early Childhood Education registration event on March 21 at the Minden Rec Center, following a similar event in Springhill on March 14. The organization aims to increase community awareness of early childhood education and provide access to high-quality learning experiences for children from birth to age five.
Themed “Once Upon a Time,” the event featured book-themed tables representing early childhood education sites, including early learning centers, Head Start programs, and public pre-K schools. Parents received information and registered their children for classes. Early learning centers accept children from birth to age four, Head Start enrolls children ages 18 months to four years, and pre-K programs serve 4-year-olds.

Webster Ready Start’s Wee Play center was available for children to explore, providing opportunities for age-appropriate play while offering parents information on ways to reduce screen time. Throughout the day, guest readers entertained children, and vendors from Early Hope, LSU Ag, and other organizations provided resources.

Parents who registered were also able to sign their children up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which mails a free book each month to enrolled children.
Registration remains open for the 2025-26 school year. For more information, call Webster Ready Start at (318) 377-3099 or visit www.websterreadystart.com.
