A Minden man was arrested on felony drug charges when Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop.

Steve S. Studdard, 42, of the 100 Block of Wallace Circle, was arrested for improper lane usage, possession of Schedule I CDS (third offense), expired driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy John Lewis Jr. conducted the traffic stop just after midnight Sunday, Feb. 14, on Highway 528, when he observed the vehicle cross the centerline.

He made contact with the driver, identified as Studdard, and noted his eyes appeared to be bloodshot and his speech was slurred.

Lewis obtained verbal consent to search the vehicle, and inside, he located what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette along with a package of rolling papers. Studdard admitted the suspected marijuana belonged to him, according to the police report.

Upon a background check, Lewis learned Studdard had two previous arrests for possession of Schedule I CDS and his license was expired.

Studdard was placed under arrest and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for booking.
