We’re Here Spreads Holiday Cheer

by Minden Press-Herald

The organization “We’re Here,: best known locally for their Bicycle giveaway that took place over the summer, is back at it again working to make sure every child in Minden has a very Merry Christmas.

They, along with Cultural Crossroads, set up at the farm Saturday afternoon providing food, drink, and games, and over 1000 toys and $1000 in gift cards to all kids 12 and under who came through the wooden gates.

“We’re giving kids that are twelve $50 dollar gift cards, kids that are eleven 25$ gift cards, and the kids that are ten 10$ gift cards. That, along with so many toys, we’re trying to make sure that they have a Merry Christmas. Really get to the heart,” said We’re Here creator Patrick White.

And get to the heart they did. Kids who came to the giveaway were led into a  oom lined with toys that they could pick from to take home. For parents, Mrs. Claus was also available for some holiday photo opportunities.

This giveaway was able to take place due to the generosity of both local individuals, businesses, and organizations whole wanted to spread some Christmas cheer to the children. “Everybody just came together for Christmas and wanted to make it amazing for the youth,” said White. We’re Here would like to thank their sponsors Living Word Worship Center, Mercy’s Closet, Alice’s Soul Kitchen, and Coca-Cola.

We’re Here was going to ensure that nothing was left to go to waste, and already made plans with what they would do with the remaining toys. “If anything is left over, we’re going to take a portion, and families that are in need, people who have adopted that I know of, we’re actually going to bless those families. We’re also going to do a Christmas run with another portion. Anybody from the bicycle giveaway people who have reached out, we’re going to load up the truck and ride around like Santa Clause delivering toys,” said White.
