Witches Ride enchants Minden with festive fundraiser

by Amber McDown

The inaugural Witches Ride of Minden, organized by Pearls of Purpose, weaved its spell over downtown Minden on October 19, captivating spectators with a bewitching display of spooky, festive attire and charitable spirit.

The enchanting parade featured a coven of ladies decked out in their finest witchy garb, taking to the streets aboard golf carts, UTVs, and bicycles. As they cruised through the heart of Minden, these modern “witches” delighted onlookers by showering them with sweet treats.

Following the magical procession, a celebratory gathering unfolded at Miller Quarters, where attendees continued to revel in the Halloween spirit.

The Witches Ride tradition, which originated in Seaside, Florida, over 30 years ago, has been embraced with open arms in the southeast region, drawing crowds and participants alike. Pearls of Purpose harnessed the event’s popularity to raise funds for local causes. Those joining the parade and party contributed to the charitable initiative, with proceeds slated to benefit the nonprofit organization WeCare and to support enhancements at Miller Quarters.
