SHREVEPORT — State Attorney General Buddy Caldwell say a 51-year-old Bossier City woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $42,000 from an elderly Medicaid patient.
Caldwell said in a news release that Connie Monts surrendered Tuesday to Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigators.
He says Monts was booked with one count of theft of the assets of an aged or disabled person.
Caldwell says Monts, who worked as a bookkeeper at a Shreveport-based personal care business, was assigned to assist an elderly Medicaid patient with paying her bills. He says investigators discovered that, over the course of a year, Monts used her position to allegedly write 14 fraudulent checks to herself from the patient’s checking account.
It was unclear whether Monts has an attorney.
