GRAMBLING — Grambling State is closing out the season on fire winning their senior night game and seventh in a row 65-54 against FAMU.
Grambling State (18-8 overall 12-3 SWAC) expands its winning streak to seven straight games and wins both their season match-ups against FAMU (8-19, 7-9).
GSU was able to hold off FAMU for the majority of the contest. The great rebounding efforts and physical play of FAMU kept the game close. Neither team was able to gain any momentum with their shooting.
Sharpshooter Jazmyne Jackson was the Lady Tigers’ leading scorer with a career-high 24 points on 6-of-12 (50 percent) shooting 5-of-7 (57.1 percent) from deep and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Jackson’s season high in points came at the right time as her team shot 30.4 percent from the field.
The Lady Tigers bench outscored FAMU’s bench 21-7 igniting a spark on a night when the team did not shoot well. The Lady Tigers defense continued to be the x-factor forcing 27 turnovers and scoring 15 points off those opportunities.
After this victory The Lady Tigers stand at second in the SWAC standings with only four games left in the season.
