Parish Design Company made a return with its Deck’d Out event, which saw over forty young talented artists from various schools throughout Webster Parish display their artwork on the interesting canvas of a skateboard deck.
“We’re here tonight to celebrate some amazing artwork by students from all over Webster Parish,” said event creator Patrick Miller.
Miller was inspired to create the event as skateboard decks were an art form that pushed him to get into graphic design early in his career.
“I started in graphic design because of skateboard artwork like this. Still at fifty years old, I collect skateboard decks because it connects me to my past and the things I was passionate about as a young person learning about the arts,” said Miller.
“To see this work is very exciting, because it connects my youth, but it also accentuates the fact that y’all are talented artists, doing amazing things.”
While all the decks were fantastic displays of young talent, some went above and beyond and were recognized for different categories, including most creative, best use of materials, and best in show.
The Most Creative title was awarded to Sharia Washington.
The Best Use of Materials was awarded to Daisy Collins.

The best in Show was awarded to Itzayeny Urbina.

Honorable mentions included Ava, Skylie, Kynlee, Bella, Maggie, and Autumn.
The decks will be on display from Thursday, May 1, through Saturday, May 3. They are located at the Parish Design Company, located on 727 Broadway Street.
