The Minden 15U and 8U All-Star teams both stayed undefeated in their respective Diamond Youth Softball state tournaments with victories Friday.
The 15U team defeated Grant 14-0 in Metairie.
The 8U team won twice to advance to the winners’ bracket finals, defeating Grant 12-6 and Jefferson Parish Recreation District East 6-5 in Buckeye. Minden faces Sabine Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Minden 10U team is still alive in its tournament. Minden plays JRPD West in an elimination game Saturday at 10:15. The 6U team stayed alive with a 13-1 victory over Jackson Parish before losing a hard-fought, tight game against Buckeye by just three runs.
According to stats on its GameChanger site, Ella Wood and Lola Huddleston combined on a one-hitter in the 15U team’s four-inning victory.
Wood allowed one hit, struck out eight and walked one in three innings. Huddleston didn’t allow a hit and struck out two in one inning.
Wood, Emmaline Harmon and Bray Lewis had two hits apiece. Huddleston, Rhea Waller, Kenzie Pamintuan, Erin Danzy and McKinley James all had one.
Lewis Huddleston and Danzy had two RBI apiece. Harmon, Wood and Pamintuan all had one.
Lewis and James scored three runs each. Waller and Harmon both scored two. Eastyn Pate, Huddleston, Pamintuan and Danzy all scored one.
Minden has outscored its three opponents 42-8.
According to stats on its GameChanger site, the 8U team had 19 hits against Grant and 12 against JRPD East.
Minden broke a 4-4 tie against JRPD East with two runs in the bottom of the fourth then held off Its opponent in the fifth.
