The Minden All-Stars finished runner-up in the Diamond Youth Softball 15U World Series Sunday in Laurel, Miss.
Minden fell to Headland, Ala., 10-2 in the championship round. Minden kept it close early and trailed 3-2 after three innings. But Headland, which went through the tournament undefeated, pulled away in the fifth and sixth innings.
Minden was coming off a day in which it won three elimination games to stay alive. Headland played one game Saturday.
Minden finished the tournament 5-2. Minden, which won the district and state tournaments, closed the summer 15-3.
Team members are Ella Wood, Brayleigh Lewis, Erin Danzy, Lola Huddleston, Loralee Roberts, Kenzie Pamintuan, Mckinley James, Eastyn Paye, Emmaline Harmon and Rhea Waller.
Chase Huddleston and Marcus Harmon are the coaches. Peyton Wood is the bench coach.
Wood, a first-team All-District 3-2 selection last spring as an eighth-grader at Lakeside, went 2-for-3. Huddleston had a hit and two RBI.
James and Pate had one double each. Harmon had one hit.
