Angels, Darlings take him little league district titles

It was a wild weekend at the Minden Rec. Center, with the Minden Darlings All-Stars and Angels (traditional) All-Stars taking home district titles.

Darlings

Minden 23
West Ouachita 5

Leyla Slaughter and Brooklyn Davis led Minden with a double and single each, followed by Syniah Rabb with three singles, Leigha Gilbert and Lucy Giddens with two singles and McKenna Chreene and Lindsey Ryan added base hits for the Minden Darlings.

Minden 4
West Monroe Am. 3

Brooklyn Davis had two singles to once again lead the way on offense, followed by Hadley Haynes who crushed a double. Baleigh Haulcy and McKenna Chreene each stepped up with singles for Minden.

Minden 9
Union 5

Leigha Gilbert finished with two singles for Minden, followed by Syniah Rabb, Leyla Slaughter, Mackenzie McCoy, McKenna Chreene, Baylee Bonsall and Aaliyah Allen with base hits.

Angels

Minden managed just one hit in their victory over Union Parish, a single from Kenzie Warmack.

On the mound, Colby Hollis struck out six batters and Elisabeth Cage sat down three batters. Each fired two innings, while Kylie Ryan pitched one inning as well.

Benton 1

Minden jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against Benton, led by Kylie Ryan, Laci Cheatham and Lainey Mercer with a pair of singles each. Kaydree Kemp and Kenzie Warmack added base hits for Minden in the win.

On the mound, Colby Hollis struck out three batters and Kylie Ryan came in to strike out a pair.

Benton 1

Benton was no match for the Minden all-stars in the Angels championship game, as Minden took the crown led by Colby Hollis and her two-hit game. Also with base hits for Minden were Kylie Ryan, Kenzie Warmack, Elisabeth Cage and Lillian Jolly.

Elisabeth Cage struck out three batters on the mound, followed by Kenzie Warmack who struck out two hitters.

Minden 22
Springhill 3

Ada Gilbert led Minden with two singles in the game, followed by Alivia McKenzie with a base hit.
McKenzie also stepped up on the mound, striking out three batters and allowing one hit. Keamber Franklin pitched two innings and struck out one batter and giving up no hits.

Springhill was led by Zee Jones with a single.

Springhill 19
Minden 18

Molly Fowler doubled to lead Minden, followed by Kaylin Williams with two singles. Addison Thomas came through with a single for Minden, as did My’ya Shine, Alivia McKenzie and Gracie Green.

Minden sent four pitchers to the mound in the loss. Alivia McKenzie struck out three batters in two innings of work, Kendal Lynn struck out one batter and allowed four hits in two innings. Both girls pitched twice in the game, with Lynn allowing seven total hits and McKenzie allowing four.

Zee Jones was the leader for Springhill at the plate, coming through with a triple, double and single on her day. Lexie Dunning tripled and singled for Springhill, Savannah Cooper and Kinley Broom each singled twice and Madison Davis and Lanie Schildroth had base hits for Sprinhill.

Zee Jones also starred on the mound, pitching all six innings, allowing seven hits, striking out seven batters and walking 12 batters.

Minden 8
Springhill 10

Gracie Green and Keamber Franklin doubled and singled each for Minden, followed by Ada Gilbert with two singles and My’ya Shine, Addison Thomas and Molly Fowler with base hits. Keamber Franklin struck out two batters to lead the Minden pitching staff.

Kinley Broom led Springhill to victory with a triple and two singles, followed by Shelby Zaruba with a double, Savannah Cooper with two singles and Zee Jones, Lexi Dunning and Aubri Tyson added base hits.

Belles
Minden 27
West Monroe 1

Minden got base hits from a full slate of players to take a convincing win. Coming through with singles were Shania Freelon, Bridget Morgan, Halie Cross, Holly Estes, Alexia McKenzie, Taylor Bumgardner, Reagan Lee, Morgan Starkey and Abbie Green.

Taylor Bumgardner struck out two hitters and Halie Cross fired one inning in relief.

Vivian 15

Da’Ty’Quesha Jackson and Jordan Shepherd doubled and singled each for Minden, followed by Morgan Starkey and Taylor Bumgardner with doubled and Bridget Morgan and Holly Estes with singles.

Minden 14
Haughton 13

Da’TyQuesha Jackson tripled and singled for Minden in a close, high-scoring victory. Reagan Lee added a triple of her own, Shania Freelon doubled and Morgan Starkey and Sarah Disotell each came through with singles for Minden.

Taylor Bumgardner pitched six innings for Minden, striking out two batters and allowing six hits and seven runs. Holly Estes and Halie Cross each came in to pitch an inning in relief for Minden. Estest allowed no hits and Cross gave up two.

The Belles have one more game today against Vivian.
