SPRINGHILL – Following a four-month investigation by Springhill Police and the North Webster Narcotics Task Force, a Springhill man has been arrested on drug charges.

Steven Dewayne Gilbert, 33, aka “Steve Man,” aka “Stack,” of 6th Street SW in Springhill, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 12, by narcotics agents for distribution of Schedule II CDS (methamphetamine). Bond was set at $150,000.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd says agents made an undercover buy from Gilbert during the investigation.

“Gilbert has an extensive criminal history,” he said. “He’s had several distribution charges. This is not his first run-in.”
Lt. Shawn Baker, narcotics agent with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, Detective Ronald Wedgeworth, narcotics agent with the Springhill Police Department, and Lynd made contact with Gilbert at Rent-A-Center in Springhill, according to the police report, and they took him into custody on the active warrant.

He was booked at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
