The annual Lake Bistineau Spring Paddle drew a large crowd Saturday as outdoor enthusiasts and families gathered at Lake Bistineau State Park for the event hosted by Webster Parish Tourism.
Paddlers launched at 9 AM, taking the five-mile paddle through the cypress- and tupelo-lined waters of Lake Bistineau.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Johnnye Kennon of Tourism. “It brings together people from all over who enjoy the beauty of our waterways.”
After the paddle, attendees gathered for a fish fry and live entertainment provided on site. Some participants remained at the park for the rest of the day, taking advantage of the available cabin and campsite rentals.
The event was free and open to the public. The next paddle, scheduled for October, will be down the Dorcheat Bayou. For more information, go to Tourism’s website at www.visitwebster.net.
