Shreveport man arrested in Minden armed robbery and kidnapping case

by Minden Press-Herald

A Shreveport man was arrested last week in connection with a January armed robbery and kidnapping investigation in Minden, according to the Minden Police Department.

The incident occurred on January 27 at approximately 10 PM at a residence in the 700 block of Columbia Street. The victim reported being confronted at her home by a man armed with an AR-style rifle. The suspect allegedly demanded $100, claiming it was payment for marijuana he said the victim’s daughter had stolen. The suspect threatened to shoot up the residence if the payment was not made. Fearing for her safety, the victim gave the suspect $100.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the armed suspect had also threatened a juvenile male, forcing him under duress to accompany him to the residence in order to collect the money.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Tykendrick Weathers, 22, of Shreveport. Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Weathers on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and second-degree kidnapping.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force was contacted for assistance in locating and apprehending Weathers. On July 9, the task force located and arrested Weathers in Shreveport. He was transported to the Minden Police Department.

Weathers was officially booked on July 10 following an interview with detectives. He faces charges for armed robbery with a firearm and second-degree kidnapping.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
