Richard Leon Norrell, 78, served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam and was loved by his family and friends. Richard spent the first year of his life in a small house on the family farm near Fryeburg, as his father built a larger house.
Richard played basketball in high school at Heflin High School, and attended Louisiana Tech University. Richard worked in Africa and the South Pacific.
Richard spent his later years doing what he loved best, hunting and fishing, and taking care of his family.
Richard was a “fixer” and fixed lives and broken hopes in ways that people never knew. He was our Rock, and well-loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.
Richard Norrell is survived by his spouse Linda Susan Norrell, son Clayton J. Norrell, sister Brenda Norrell, granddaughters Madison, Breanna, Hannah and Cheyanne LaCoste, grandson Michael Norrell, and great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by nieces and nephews, and cousins, who he loved and loved him.
Richard is preceded in death by his son Curtis Leon Norrell, mother Marjorie Faye Norrell, father Orvis Leon Norrell and brother Donald Joe Norrell.
Richard’s grand life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service at the gravesite on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Bistineau Baptist Church in Heflin, La.
